It’s somewhat of a harsh truth but the catalogue of games on the Wii U has been rather lacking, specifically with the popular/iconic franchises, since the release of the console in November 2012. So I gleefully look forward to the release of Mario Kart 8 released on the 30th of May because quite frankly my Wii U is gathering thicker layers of dust as the days go on.

Here we list our personal fav's in the hope of giving you the reader something good to play on this most geeky holiday. May the forth be with you! by Luke Kirby One of the most anticipated games of 2014 was recently put into beta over valentine’s weekend to help all us lonely people focus on something other than being single and having no one to love us… myself included. Yes, I’m talking about Titanfall. First thing necessary to do, after downloading and installing, was the training section of the beta which while nothing too fascinating allows you to realise that it’s not just another FPS like your Call of Duty or Battlefield by the simple fact of how important manoeuvrability and agility can be. By Luke Kirby In light of a total operating loss of 35 billion yen, roughly £214 million, in 2013 the president of Nintendo Satoru Iwata has a taken a 50% pay cut, as well as Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda bith taking a 30% reduction while the other seven members of the company's board take a 20% cut. By Luke Kirby (Before I begin to discuss this game I feel there’s something important to note, I own Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the PS3 and PC as well as the Director’s Cut version also on PC. Finally I got round to playing it when I received it as a gift for the Wii U for Christmas.) The year is 2027 and the lines of humanity are somewhat blurred with people being able to essentially become part human and part machine. In Deus Ex you find yourself taking the role of Sarif Industries (a growing biotech company) head of security Adam Jensen. After being severely wounded in a terrorist attack against the company he has to undergo surgery to be saved, resulting in him receiving advanced prosthesis to replace his damaged body. This attack also claims the lives of important researchers who were on the verge of making massive breakthrough for Sarif Industries including Jensen’s ex-girlfriend Megan Reed. Upon returning to work he finds himself in search of the attackers. By Luke Kirby Before I go into any detail about All That Remains… you have played Season 1 right? You haven’t? Go play it so you can be pulled into a series that leaves you feeling oh so many emotions and questions your moral judgement. You finished it? Good. Did you also let out a tear or two at the end like I did? Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone, in fact I’d find it disturbing if you didn’t feel something and if you didn’t you’re a damn psychopath my friend. By Luke Kirby After rumours and speculation Telltale games confirmed that it is working on an episodic Game of Thrones series for 2014, not much other information has been provided as development is in its early stages. As a fan of both the TV series and the novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, I was really pleased to hear this rumour confirmed. I’m excited to see what story will be told in the land of Westeros as there is just so much going on in the books it seems that they’ll be able to provide a brilliant story as they have done with other titles; The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. By Luke Kirby When it comes to online gaming… honestly I don’t play too many. I used to dabble with Battlefield 3 a bit and I’ve played Battlefield 4 too, which is sometimes rather enjoyable but as with any online FPS/combat games I get bored quite easily. A few months ago I purchased Chivalry: Medieval Warfare through Steam for a ridiculous price of £3.74. I thought for that price it was more than worth it (note that Chivalry is only available for the glorious PC master race.) (Ed: So, how did you enjoy The Last of Us? Or Red Dead Redemption? GTA V? Oh right, yeah) Turns out it was the best thing in the history of my life that I’ve ever bought for under £4. By Jamie Kennett and Luke Kirby Scramble! Scramble! The Steam Autumn Sale (or Spring Sale if you're in the antipodes) is on, from now until the 3rd of December (next Tuesday). So if you're a PC gamer, you best get on the Store and start spending. If ever there's a time to expand your games library, its now. I never buy PC games unless its during a Steam sale, and need I explain why? Games like Skyrim are a mere £3 right now. Three pounds. On the other side of "Read more", Luke gives some pro tips on what to buy and when. By Luke Kirby Bioshock fans rejoiced last week as Burial at Sea Episode 1 was released, taking fans to an all-too-familiar yet alien setting. I’m sure most are aware that Burial at Sea allows players to roam around Rapture prior to its demise and before it became hell, a thousand leagues below the surface. When I found out this was a feature I was undeniably excited and during the first section I found myself completely ignoring both Elizabeth and my waypoint to have a look at Rapture during its prime. Irrational Games have done a great job placing us into an environment that, up until now, we have only been able to imagine. |
